Who Am I?
If you have landed here, you have probably already seen my face on the homepage. Just in case you clicked your way through too quickly, here is the short version. I am Thore, 29, German by birth and Irish by degree, currently spending time in Brazil and doing my best with Portuguese. I am curious, straightforward and laugh more loudly than necessary. I enjoy meeting people, learning from different cultures and seeing the world from as many perspectives as possible.
WHAT IS MY STORY?
After finishing school I moved to Newcastle upon Tyne to attend a language school. That is where everything started. New faces, new cultures, nights that lasted far too long and the realisation that the world is too interesting to stay in one place. Since then I have lived, studied and travelled across several countries while completing university, internships and volunteering projects. The people I met along the way shaped how I see the world and helped me understand what I want from life. Every step has brought me closer to finding my place in an increasingly global world.
WHAT MAKES MY TRAVEL BLOG UNIQUE?
On this blog you will find an honest and unfiltered look at my life on the road. These are not polished essays or perfect travel guides. They are real experiences, written as they happened. Sometimes I travel alone, often with friends, family or my girlfriend. At the beginning of each story I share what brought me to that place and why the journey mattered. I also highlight local tips, hidden spots, restaurants and bars that are worth experiencing. My goal is simple. I want to inspire you to explore new places, meet people who broaden your perspective and discover cultures that stay with you long after you return home.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM MY BLOG?
When I started this website I had no clear direction. After many drafts and almost two years of writing, the purpose has become clearer. I want to tell the stories behind each journey, share what went well and what did not, offer practical advice and give a realistic picture of travelling across the world. More importantly, I want to connect my experiences as a traveller with the reality of being a young person trying to build a life in a world full of possibilities. The good days, the tough days and everything in between.
WHAT AM I CURRENTLY DOING?
Right now I am travelling through South America, visiting friends and spending time in Peru with my girlfriend and her family. This chapter is coming to an end and I am deciding whether to return to Europe or continue working remotely somewhere in the Americas. If you have ever asked yourself where you are heading in life, you are in good company. Most of us go through it. The goal is simply to keep moving, stay curious and make the next step count.
